the clash between Ivan Juric and Davide Vagnati makes ink flow in Italy
THE SPORTS SCAN – A surreal scene took place on Wednesday evening in Austria where the Torino team are training for their summer tour. Ivan Juric and his sporting director Davide Vagnati fought in the hotel parking lot.
After the team had just won (1-0) in a friendly match against Apollon Limassol, Torino coach Ivan Juric and his sporting director Davide Vagnati came to blows in the parking lot of their hotel at Waidring , in Austria, where the Piedmontese perform their summer tour.
A scene filmed discreetly from the balcony of the hotel which leaked on social networks and which caused a lot of ink to flow in the Italian press.
« Don’t raise your voice with me, I’m the one who makes the team, respect the one who always defends you in front of this asshole », shouted Davide Vagnati as technical director Marco Pellegri tried to separate the two men. « Kiss my ass » then replied the Croatian coach who would have criticized the low activity of the club during this summer transfer window.
If the identity of the person insulted by the DS of Granata is not explicitly named, President Urbano Cairo seems to be targeted. The two men have been going through a conflicting episode for several months.
“It will be a starting point”
“There was a discussion, it was not pretty to see but these are things that happen when two people are particularly keen to do things well. The coach rightly wants players as soon as possible, the club and I are doing our best in a difficult market situation. We will bring Juric the players he needs. When the fight was over, we hugged and told each other what to do. We are real people who tell it like it is. It’s also through these discussions and squabbles that we can get back to doing things in the best possible way. It will be a starting point. Davide Vagnati told the Sky Sport microphones on Wednesday evening.
Tensions seem to intensify from July at Torino as the team experiences a difficult transfer window with the departure of many titular executives (Andrea Belotti, Bremer, Josip Brekalo, Dennis Praet, Rolando Mandrogra, Marko Pjaca, etc.) which have still not been replaced.
