Even before its competitive debut at the 2023 24 Hours of Daytona, before tackling the WEC and Le Mans, the new BMW M Hybrid V8 becomes the first LMDh hypercar to feature in the iRacing game.
The virtual before the real for BMW M Motorsport which becomes the first manufacturer to launch a virtual version of its new Hypercar LMDh in the catalog of iRacing.
BMW as a pioneer of the virtual Hypercar
Already represented on the platform via models like M3/M4 GT3 and the M8 GTBMW M Motorsport is stepping up a gear in 2023 by including the M Hybrid V8.
“When it comes to bringing real racing cars into the virtual world, BMW M Motorsport and iRacing have been close and perfectly aligned partners for many years,” declared Maurizio LeschiuttaLMDh project manager at BMW M Motorsport.
“As responsible for such an important project, confidentiality is my number one priority; it would be fatal for the competition to find out the technical details of our car that we want to keep secret. In this regard, I came away really impressed with the professionalism of iRacing. »
“We provide them with CAD data and the results of our simulator and circuit tests. They are used as a basis to create a realistic virtual version. This gives all simulators the opportunity to experience cutting-edge prototype performance and BMW M Motorsport appeal. »

As for the real beginnings on the track of BMW M with their new toy, it will be necessary to wait until 24 Hours Of Daytona, in January 2023. The car, which is currently undergoing intensive testing in the United Stateswill also be available in its official colors on iRacing.
