The best Christmas celebrations by builders

From an Alpine A110 R in the streets of Paris to a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Hennessey on the circuit, several manufacturers have fun fixing a Christmas tree on the roof of a radical sports car as New Year’s Eve approaches. Others are more poetic like Dacia or Porsche.

Christmas Eve is fast approaching and you don’t have your tree yet? Some manufacturers may have the solution for express delivery. Their idea is simple: hang a fir tree on the roof of a fast, very fast car. The concept is available in different ways depending on the brand.

The fastest tree in the world at Hennessey

At the American preparer and manufacturer Hennessey, the « Christmas Tree Run » has been a tradition since 2017 and aims to break the speed record for a car carrying a tree on its roof. For 2022, the Texas firm has pulled out of its garage a Hennessey Venom 1000, a modified version of the latest Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, with more than 1,000 hp.

Green like the lighted tree fixed on its roof, the car was driven by the driver Spencer Geswein disguised as a Grinch for a few humorous scenes. Once helmeted, it broke the previous record by reaching 192 mph, or almost 309 km/h, on a test circuit of the Continental equipment manufacturer. But Santa Claus did not intend to let this character, whose goal is to spoil the festivities, get away with it so easily.

A special livery for the Alpine A110 R

The idea made its way to France and it was Alpine who took it over. In recent days, some Parisians have been surprised to come across a somewhat unusual development prototype of the A110 R. The sportswoman wears a camouflage with gray and black patterns reminiscent of gift wrap, whose tones are subtly reversed between the front and rear of the car. And on its roof, the coupé carries a fir tree. Admittedly, the conifer adds a few kilos to the 1,082 claimed by the 300 hp berlinetta, but probably not enough to prevent it from reaching 100 km / h in less than 4 s.

The magic of Christmas as seen by Lamborghini

On the other side of the Alps, it is Lamborghini which presents a Huracan Sterrato carrying a fir tree on its roof. After all, what better than the 610 hp off-road supercar to get the tree directly in the forest?

In parallel, the Italian manufacturer has released a short Christmas film in which a driver of Huracan Tecnica allows, by parking his car in front of a hairdressing salon to attract people, to avoid the owner of the place to put the key under the door for lack of customers. It will be added that for some, the melody of the V10 Lamborghini is worth all the Christmas carols.

The different sleighs of Santa Claus

What is Santa Claus up to this year? Detlev von PLaten, member of the Executive Board of Porsche, met the tall man with the white beard in a 924 with a very specific livery. She is equipped with reindeer antlers on her roof and a true-faux brown coat.

For its part, Dacia went to meet the man in the red suit in Lapland. The Romanian brand even spent the day with this lucky owner… of a Duster!

At BMW, the Classic division offers a little Christmas story in its museum with the M1 Hommage concept as a guest star.

Audi did not innovate. The manufacturer has reused its ad from last year, just replacing the model displayed on the screen. After the e-tron GT, it’s the turn of the Audi Grandsphere concept to play the role of Santa’s sleigh.

Finally, at Peugeot, no real advertising campaign but a simple visit from Santa Claus to the Christmas market in Manchester in a Peugeot e-208. It is also in England that Nissan organized a small animation in front of the British factory in Sunderland. A luminous decor comprising a Christmas tree (nearly 10 meters high) and reindeer was powered by a Leaf battery.
