The 4th best team in F1 is now French!

Yes, the season is far from over and, of course, things can change quickly, one way or the other, in Formula 1…Nevertheless, for the first time in the 2022 season, the Alpine F1 team is fourth in the constructors’ standings, ahead of its great rival, Mclaren. A hard-fought place in the last round, thanks to Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon. At home, what’s more, a whole symbol…

Alpine F1 wins home game against Mclaren

Ranked 6th and 8th respectively in the French F1 Grand Prix last weekend, Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon enabled the Alpine F1 team to take the advantage over Mclaren, after a perfect equality obtained at the end of the Red Bull Ring race. This is the first time that the French brand has found itself in front of its British rival, so let’s not spoil our pleasure. Especially since the season is far from over and it could still evolve….

Esteban Ocon » The objective today was to score points with both cars, and that’s what we did! I’m happy with my race today and it was great to ride in front of the local fans, who were amazing all weekend, so thanks to them for all the support. It was tough in the heat and I enjoyed racing the track with some close battles. We are now fourth in the constructors’ championship, so we leave here very positive and motivated to maintain this position. I hope we race in France next year because there is nothing like a home Grand Prix. Thanks to all the fans and go Alpine!

Fernando Alonso: I’m happy with our race today. It was well executed on our side and we managed the pace and the tires well. We had to work on a lot of things in terms of car balance this weekend, but we ended up finishing just behind the top five, so a very solid race at the end and more points on the board for us. . I had a good start climbing up to fifth, but then we fell to sixth and maybe got back to our normal position in the race. It shows that when we have a clean weekend like this we can finish in the top six positions. Hopefully we can maintain this level of consistency throughout the second half of the season and keep the momentum going..”

Laurent Rossi, CEO of Alpine:  » We are very happy to have had good results with both cars for our home race and we are now in fourth place in the constructors’ championship and, I must say, it is deserved. It was great to race at Circuit Paul Ricard today in front of such passionate local fans, so thanks to them for their fantastic support all weekend. On the track, we knew we had a great chance to score well [des points] with both cars today. We needed a good start, which we achieved, and races well executed by the team and the drivers. Fernando did a great job of overtaking Lando [Norris] at the start and from there he managed his race brilliantly to score eight points in sixth position. Esteban also got off to a great start but was given a time penalty for his first lap collision with Yuki [Tsunoda]. He had to keep his head down to reclaim the advantage he had gained, and his patience and determination were essential to overtake the second McLaren, of Daniel [Ricciardo], for eighth place. Now our goal is clear. We must do everything to stay in fourth place in the constructors’ championship. It won’t be easy, but we need to maintain our flow of upgrades and have strong race weekends – like we did at home in France this weekend – for the rest of the season.
