Strasbourg coach Julien Stéphan deplores the closed session this Wednesday in Lens

Jonathan clauss, the Alsatian of Lens, trained in Strasbourg, is undoubtedly the player most disappointed by the absence of spectators this Wednesday evening in Bollaert (the Lensois club was sanctioned by two games behind closed doors as a precaution by the League of professional football, after the incidents between supporters last Saturday during the North derby against Lille).

« It’s a shame because my mother had to come and play me for the first time in Ligue 1, deplores the player from Osthoffen. So it touches me because Strasbourg is our city, it’s our club. It would have been a nice wink and I’ve only been waiting for this since she told me she was coming, so that bothers me a little bit. «

We will therefore not hear this Wednesday evening the Lensois supporters singing the Corons at the start of the second half, as tradition dictates, but the Strasbourg coach Julien Stephan is not happy with the absence of this fervent audience, one of the best in France: « Above all, we deplore this game behind closed doors, because we do not do this job and we do not play these games to play them in front of empty stands. Afterwards we of course respect the decision that was made. But if you ask me outside, if I prefer to play in front of 35,000 or 40,000 people, as was the case in Lyon or in Paris, or to play behind closed doors, I tell you that I prefer to play in front of people, and a lot of people. «

The anger of Strasbourg supporters

The party is spoiled also for the Strasbourg fans, because 400 of them had planned to make the trip to the Bollaert stadium in the middle of the week. « I am as jaded as annoyed, plague Gregory Walter, the vice president of the Federation of Racing supporters does not take offense. It’s always the same in football and only in football, the majority pays for a minority. In what other part of society are 30,000 people sentenced because a few dozen or even a few hundred people have done something stupid? «

Bellegarde forfeit against his former club

Facing the other Racing, that of Lens, which is in great shape at the start of the season (third in L1 behind PSG and OM), Racing Club de Strasbourg (12th with 7 pts after its victory against Metz ) will be deprived of Jeanricner Bellegarde (trained in Lens), hit in the thigh.

The captain Dimitri Liénard and the attacker Majeed Waris are also uncertain for physical glitches, but Julien Stéphan has called them in a larger group of 22 players.
