Former F1 driver Rubens Barrichello clinched the Stock Car Pro Series title last weekend. This is his second title in this category. It was on the Interlagos circuit that the Brazilian claimed his second crown, after that acquired in 2014. Ranked only eleventh after a collision in the first lap, at the level of the S of Senna, the interested party benefited from the disqualification de Casagrande, considered responsible for the contact that eliminated another protagonist for the title, Daniel Serra.
Ruben Barrichello wards off bad luck at Interlagos
« I am very happy. We are breaking a taboo at Interlagos and I just want to thank everyone who encouraged me. I had no idea there were so many people!” declared Rubens Barrichello, just crowned with his title.
In F1, Barrichello had scored 68 podiums, 14 poles and 11 wins. He had driven successively for Jordan, Stewart, Ferrari, Honda, Brawn GP and Williams Racing. In 2002 and then in 2004, he won the title of vice-world champion in Formula 1 with Ferrari, behind Michaël Schumacher. He also signed third place in the final in 2001 (Ferrari) and 2009 (Brawn GP).
