Stock-Car: a Pinty’s series steering wheel for Raphaël Lessard
Raphaël Lessard has been recruited by the Wight Motorsports team to compete in the first event of the 2021 season in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series, which will take place on August 1 at the Oval Circuit in Sunset, Ontario.
The Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce driver will replace the owner of the wheel, veteran Donald Theetge, who recently injured his right hand.
“This call was not planned, but I’m very happy to take on this new challenge,” said Lessard. And above all very flattered to have the confidence of this team. »
A victory at Vallée-Jonction
Lessard, whose season was cut short in the NASCAR Camping World Pickup Truck Series due to financial constraints in May, has two starts in the Canadian Pinty’s Series.
In his first appearance, he won on June 29, 2019 at the Autodrome Chaudière de Vallée-Jonction, aboard a racing car prepared by the renowned Dumoulin Competition team. A few weeks later, he placed seventh at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières.
Successful trials for Ranger
Andrew Ranger took part in a private practice session Monday at the Sunset Circuit, Ont. The Roxton Pond driver will return to the NASCAR Pinty’s series in 2021, after taking an unexpected hiatus caused by the loss of his loyal sponsor, Chrysler subsidiary MOPAR.
This time, his services were retained by the American team Rick Ware Racing to compete in the 11 events of the Canadian series.
Even if he will abandon his famous No. 27, in favor of the 51, our sources tell us that he will find the wheel of the same car that gave him his third championship in 2019.
