In the United Kingdom, the spread of the Indian variant of Covid-19 is worrying. France has therefore just decided to implement compulsory isolation for all travelers from the United Kingdom.
Across the Channel, the progression of the Indian variant of Covid-19 is worrying. So, in the days to come, anyone who gets off the Eurostar in Paris, disembarks in Calais (Pas-de-Calais) or lands in France from a flight from the United Kingdom will have to observe compulsory isolation, such as Government spokesman Gabriel Attal clarified on Wednesday May 26th. The United Kingdom therefore joins the list of 18 countries or territories from which all passengers must observe compulsory ten-day isolation. Violators risk a fine of 1,000 to 1,500 euros.
This measure taken by France reflects the concerns of the authorities. Is the Indian variant so worrying? « It is true that it is more transmissible (…). The English tell us that this variant is probably 50% more transmissible than the English variant, so we are wary, we take precautions », explains the journalist France Televisions and doctor Damien Mascret on the set of 19/20, Wednesday.
