Spanish football: Hazard « stays » at Real, announces Ancelotti

This season, Eden Hazard has scored just one goal in 22 appearances in all competitions.


“His plan is quite clear: he stays, and with a lot of motivation, because he hasn’t had a good time in recent years and he wants to show his qualities. He remains to show all his qualities,” said Ancelotti on the eve of the penultimate La Liga match in Cadiz.

Returning to collective training on Tuesday after the operation in March which consisted of removing the titanium plate which had held his right fibula since November 2019, Hazard, under contract until June 2024, should be able to play a few minutes before the end. of the season, which was his goal.

He missed 74 games in three seasons

Hazard, 31, will be able to return to the Bernabéu on the final day of La Liga on Sunday June 22 against Betis Sevilla. He will be an important reinforcement for Ancelotti in the Champions League final at the Stade de France on Saturday May 28 against Liverpool. He could also reappear with the Belgian selection during matches against the Netherlands (June 3), Poland (June 8 and 14) and Wales (June 11) in the Nations League.

Transferred in the summer of 2019 from Chelsea for 115 million euros including bonuses, Hazard missed 74 matches in three seasons at Real Madrid. This season, he has one goal and two assists in 22 appearances in all competitions.
