Spa, Libre 1: Buret/Campbell and the Porsche/K-Worx show themselves

On a site slightly modified during the winter, in particular with the return of various gravel traps, the pilots had to find their marks. The session was however rather calm, except for an interruption to get the Mercedes-AMG #3 CD Sport out of a gravel pit at the Combes chicane, then the Toyota #9 stopped 3 minutes from the end. CMR on the edge of the track, at the origin of a definitive red flag.

The only car to have completed the 7 km in less than 2’32, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #121 of the K-Worx team was the fastest over a lap with its duo Timothé Buret-Christopher Campbell entered in Pro- Am. The gaps are however very small, the two best crews of the Silver Cup slipping into the same tenth of a second with Hugo Chevalier-Enzo Joulié (Mercedes-AMG GT4 #87 – Akkodis ASP Team) and Lonni Martins-Sacha Bottemanne (Audi R8 LMS GT4 #6 – Team Fullmotorsport).

Teaming up for this event alone, Lluc Ibañez and Ruben del Sarte (Mercedes-AMG GT4 #15 – NM Racing Team) got their preparations off to a good start for next week’s GT4 Europe race with a third place in the Silver Cup, the fourth overall categories combined.

Currently occupying second place in the Pro-Am championship, Éric Trémoulet and Olivier Jouffret (Mercedes-AMG GT4 #64 – Team Jouffruit by Vic’Team) confirmed their very good start to the season by entering the top 5 of the general classification ahead of Étienne and Éric Cheli (Toyota GR Supra GT4 #9 – CMR), excellent 3rd in Pro-Am despite their stop at the edge of the track.

The top 10 of this first free practice session was completed by Arno Santamato-Pierre-Étienne Chaumat (Audi R8 LMS GT4 #888 – CSA Racing), Simon Gachet-Éric Debard (Mercedes-AMG GT4 #81 – Akkodis ASP Team) , Valentin Hasse-Clot and his new team-mate Arnold Robin (Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 #13 – Mirage Racing) and Grégoire Demoustier-Anthony Beltoise (Alpine A110 GT4 #35 – Bodemer Auto).

Note the 16th place of Charlie Robertson and Darren Leung for the debut of Paradine Motorsport’s new Ginetta G56 GT4 in this FFSA GT.

In the Am Cup, Michael Blanchemain and Christophe Hamon (Audi R8 LMS GT4 #69 – Team Fullmotorsport) were the fastest in the category with a 26th place overall, ahead of Gwenael Delomier-David Levy (Alpine A110 GT4 #110 – CMR) and the Germans Max Kronberg and Daniel Blickle, who are preparing their participation in the GT4 European Series with the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport from W&S Motorsport.

The second free practice session will start at 2:15 p.m. and will allow us to better prepare for the first highlight of the weekend, the double qualifying practice session which will take place on Saturday at 3:20 p.m.
