Major Soccer League side Minnesota United have signed South Sudanese defender Ryen Jiba and Nigerian midfielder Emmanuel Iwe.
Minnesota technical director Mark Watson praised Jiba’s athleticism, saying he would bring balance to the team’s roster. “His athletic qualities are outstanding. We think he really has a lot of potential. We consider him the best left-back in the entire draft, so we’re glad we were able to get him,” he said.
The 21-year-old joined the Minnesota club from USL League One Union Omaha, where he signed in February 2022, making 28 appearances. On the other hand, Iwe joined the MLS club from Cloud State University. He grew up at St Louis Park and played his youth football with Joy Athletic Club.
Emmanuel Iwe began his development with Joy in 2009 and remained with the club until 2021 when he featured in their inaugural National Premier Soccer League season.
