Sorare will launch a game dedicated to basketball with the NBA

The French company has entered into a partnership with the famous basketball league and will launch its first game dedicated to this sport this fall.

Sorare expands to basketball in the United States. The young French shoot announced on September 7 that it had entered into a multi-year partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), which represents all players in the league. Through this collaboration, Sorare will launch its first fantasy basketball game this fall for the famous American league’s 2022-2023 season. “The NBA and players have been at the forefront of digital experiences and collectibles, and our game provides basketball fans with the ultimate sports entertainment experience”said Nicolas Julia, co-founder and CEO of Sorare.

As with the company’s football game, it will allow the purchase of cards – in the form of NFTs – bearing the image of American players and teams. Their holders will be able to use them to participate in competitions in order to earn points based on the actual performance of the players.

A multiplication of partnerships in the world of sport

This new partnership for Sorare is the young company’s third with an American sports league. After signing with Major League Soccer earlier this year, the company partnered with Major League Baseball and launched a fantasy baseball game this summer. Seeking to integrate several American sports into its portfolio, it has several professional athletes as ambassadors, advisers and investors, like Serena Williams and Kylian Mbappé. Basketball players Rudy Gobert and Blake Griffin have just joined the company as investors.

Sorare further claims two million users in 185 countries, including markets in Europe and Asia, where it is experiencing a rapid expansion of its football game. The young shoot continues to develop in this area, having recently established partnerships with 11 Ligue 2 clubs, including Amiens, Dijon and Paris FC. It aims to become a partner of all Ligue 2 clubs. However, the company does not only attract the attention of the sports world. She is also on the radar of the National Gaming Authority who are asking her to prove her game is not a sports betting scheme by this fall.
