American hopeful Colton Herta is getting closer to Formula 1: the FIA will look into his case in order to grant him a waiver for his license.
As the IndyCar season enters its « money time » with the final two rounds in Portland, Oregon this weekend and then Laguna Seca, California next week, Herta’s future remains at the center of conversations between the two. sides of the Atlantic.
Under contract with Andretti Autosport for 2023, the young driver (22) is also taking part in an F1 test program for McLaren (pictured above) and could start in EL1 at his home in Austin in a few weeks.
At the same time, rumors even send him to AlphaTauri to start in Grand Prix in 2023 in place of Pierre Gasly who would be promoted to the Alpine F1 Team alongside Esteban Ocon.
Some observers see Red Bull’s sudden interest in Herta as a possible resale of Scuderia AlphaTauri to Michael Andretti whose plans for a new team are currently stalled.
