Soccer. José Luis Palomino (Atalanta) tested positive during a doping control

Atalanta Argentine defender Jose Luis Palomino has tested positive for an anabolic steroid, Italian anti-doping authorities announced on Tuesday.

« The National Anti-Doping Tribunal has provisionally suspended the sportsman José Luis Palomino, dismissed from the Italian Football Federation, for violation of articles 2.1 and 2.2 »they explained in a press release.

“The sample taken from the athlete was declared positive for the presence of the clostebol metabolite”an anabolic steroid, the statement continues.

Palomino, 32, has been defending the colors of Atalanta since 2017 after stints in France (Metz, 2014-2016) and Bulgaria (Ludogorets, 2016-2017). He played 45 matches last season (2 goals) with the « Dea », 8th in the last Italian Championship.
