Soccer: Inter recruit Argentina’s Joaquin Correa

ROME – Argentina’s Lazio Rome striker Joaquin Correa joins Inter Milan on a one-year loan with obligation to buy, in a global deal worth some € 30m, announced on Thursday the Roman club.
Correa, 27, recent Copa America winner with Argentina, joins ex-coach Simone Inzaghi at Inter. With Edin Dzeko, he must forget the departure to Chelsea of the nerazzurro No. 1 scorer of the last two seasons, the Belgian Romelu Lukaku.
In a press release sent to the Italian Stock Exchange, Lazio specifies that the attacker joined the Nerazzurri in the form of a one-year loan, in the amount of 5 million euros (plus 1 million EUR bonus), associated with a purchase obligation of 25 M EUR.
Inter Milan confirmed this transfer by specifying that the « Tucu », his nickname in reference to the province of Tucuman where he was born, « had signed a contract until June 30, 2025 ».
The former Sampdoria and Sevilla player arrived in Milan on Wednesday for his medical visit. According to the Italian press, he is due to participate in his first training this Thursday and could make the trip to Verona on Friday, where Inter is expected as part of the second day of Serie A.
With Lazio, where he arrived in 2018, Correa has played 117 games and scored 30 goals in all competitions. He won the Italian Cup and the Italian Supercup in 2019.
