French Cup (3rd round). Guilliers (D2) – Crac’h (D1): 3-3 (5-4 pens)
Tell us about this completely crazy comeback against Crac’h…
We got off to a bad start, we got pushed around physically. They are a stronger team than us in football and on the hour mark it was 3-0 for them. Quite honestly, everyone thought it was dead, gave up… Then this penalty came on a logical fault, it restarted everything. They had also lost their best striker to injury. A goal brought a second, then a third in stride. Three goals in five-six minutes in the last ten minutes!
What was the mood after the third goal?
It was intense to live! Everyone was happy, we knew we were taking them to penalties and it was the lottery. We defended our chances as best we could, it was good news for us. With great efficiency, five shots for three goals… You have to say that it reflects the good will and the efforts of the players on the field, who tied the game with the opponent in the second period. It’s a bit like our habit to be realistic about the end of the match. We have a team that plays the ball well, that goes pretty quickly with the ball, we can quickly destabilize a defense that is a little tired.
Qualifying for the 4th round of the Coupe de France, is it historic for the club?
Frankly, the last time was about 20 years ago. Having the shirts is historic. Now we are waiting for the draw to find out if we can still defend our chances or if we will have to take advantage of the moment by welcoming a good team.
