This Wednesday 25 January, the CIES Football Observatory published the top 50 clubs having spent the most on the transfer market during the current transfer window and that of last summer.
Obviously, at the top of this ranking we find Chelsea. The Blues spent 555 million euros on 15 players, twice as much as Manchester United (272 million euros for 7 players), second in this top 50. West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton complete a top 5 100% English.

Premier League teams are therefore omnipresent in this ranking with 19 of the 20 clubs present.
Six Ligue 1 clubs represented
In Ligue 1, PSG (7th) is obviously present, just behind FC Barcelona. Olympique de Marseille, Stade Rennais, OGC Nice, RC Lens and AS Monaco are also part of this top 50. In all, the Ligue 1 clubs have committed 726 million euros, much less than the Premier League (3.19 billion euros) and Serie A (826 million euros), put more than La Liga (708 million euros) and the Bundesliga (689 million euros).
