Rightly considered a great nation of African football, Senegal has finally held its own and won the first African Cup of Nations in its history. The list of Lions de la Tranga is finally filling up after a long period of scarcity.
The Senegalese won their first trophy on Sunday.
Often well placed, but never victorious… Until then, such an adage corresponded perfectly to Senegal. This selection is reputed and considered among the most important in African football, with great players but nevertheless a virgin record.
This is no longer the case. Since the Aliou Ciss band repaired this anomaly on Sunday against Egypt (0-0, 4-2 on pens) in the final of the African Cup of Nations.
