Simon Pagenaud takes his first steps in his new IndyCar team

Zapping Autonews racing WRC: Sébastien Ogier’s 7 titles in figures

The first French winner of the Indianapolis 500 made his first test behind the wheel of the # 60 single-seater in his new team, MSR. He delivers his impressions hot:

It was my first day with the Meyer Shank Racing team in the 60 car. It went very well, there is a great atmosphere in the team. I found people I have known for years who worked with me in 2008 when I was at Acura and De Ferran. We know each other well and things took shape right away.

Whoever has 15 Indycar victories judges his acclimatization to his new team after his first day:

The environment is very important in motorsport and I’m in a team that suits me well. We started with a car that was good from the start of the day, we made good progress in the afternoon. We tested a lot of things so that I understood the car’s package, which is very different from what I had at Penske. I have to understand how the tires and the brakes behave, how the car reacts. Obviously it was only the first day but everything is going very well.

As a reminder, the start of the 2022 IndyCar season will take place on February 27 in Florida. Pagenaud will have the opportunity to compete against another French driver in this championship: Romain Grosjean. He also changed teams in the offseason. He left Dale Coyle Racing for Andretti Autosport.

In short

After 7 years at Penske, Simon Pagenaud completed his first day of testing this week at the wheel of the No. 60 single-seater of the Meyer Shank Racing team. He delivers his thoughts as the 2022 IndyCar season kicks off for February 27 in Florida.
