Serie A: Tajon Buchanan in the sights of AC Milan, Inter Milan and Naples

Rumors surrounding a possible Tajon Buchanan transfer to Serie A are intensifying.

TSN confirms on Thursday that AC Milan, Inter Milan and Italian league leaders Napoli are all interested in acquiring the Canadian midfielder.

All three Premier League clubs showed interest after Buchanan’s appearance at the FIFA World Cup of Soccer where the Maple Leaf was ruled out in the group stage.

After a home visit to Brampton, Ontario, the 23-year-old reunited with his current club in Belgium. He helped Brugge win the Belgian Pro League title last campaign, and this season he is playing regularly in the Champions League.

He signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Brugge in August 2021 and his transfer could not be formalized until the European market reopens in January.

It would be another major transfer for a Canadian after Alphonso Davies with Bayern Munich in 2019, followed by Jonathan David with Lille in 2020, then Alistair Johnston with Glasgow Celtic last week.

Together, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Napoli have won 38 Serie A titles, 13 Coppa Italia and 10 Champions League titles. Napoli remain undefeated this season with an 8-point lead over their closest rivals, AC Milan.
