Serie A: AS Roma dominates Atalanta Bergamo thanks to Tammy Abraham

AS Roma mastered (1-0) Atalanta Bergamo this Saturday evening, during the 28th day of Serie A. A setback from the Dea which gives Juventus a chance to widen the gap for the race to the Champions League, if successful on Sunday against La Spezia.

English striker Tammy Abraham scored his twelfth goal of the season on a magnificent service from Nicolo Zaniolo (32nd), allowing the Giallorossi to open the scoring against a struggling Bergamasque team. Marten de Roon and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were both sent off late for a second yellow card.

Five days before their confrontation against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League, Gian Piero Gasperini’s players did not show their best side with a dull performance without offensive realism marked by glaring passivity and a lack of creativity in attack.

Despite the absence of José Mourinho, suspended for his gesture against Hellas Verona, the Romans played a complete match by being sharp in attack and solid in defense. They were never really worried even if Atalanta had possession (65%).

With this victory, Rome returns to their opponent of the evening in the standings, now settling in fifth place. Nevertheless, it should be remembered that Atalanta have a game to play against Torino.
