Sergio Busquets says no to MLS to stay at Barca

Several Major League Soccer clubs are said to have approached Sergio Busquets for a transfer this summer, but the Barça captain dismissed them all out of hand!

With the arrival of Xavi on the bench, several « old » of the FC Barcelona locker room seem to have found a second youth. This is particularly the case of Sergio Busquetswho seemed on the downward slope under the Koeman era, but who is again indispensable in the midfield, well helped by the unfailing support of his coach.

With a contract ending in June 2023, Busquets’ future at FC Barcelona is being talked about more and more. Several MLS clubs have also approached the Blaugrana midfielder to enlist him this summer, but the latter preferred to refuse.

With just one year left on his contract with Barça, Sergio Busquets is starting to think about his future. At 33 now, the midfielder remains an indispensable cog in Barça de Xavi, his intelligence of play and placement allowing him to compensate for a physique on the downward slope.

Several clubs in the American championship have reportedly sounded Busquets’ entourage for a transfer this summer and, if the player has studied these few proposals, he has made it known that his objective is to continue at Barça. Sergio Busquets indeed has a plan in mind: to end his contract with Barça next year and to study the possibility of a departure at the end of the latter.

Time for the next generation made up of Pedri and Gavi to take the last advice from the old veteran and perpetuate the centuries-old tradition of Blaugrana midfielders!
