Senegal – Benin: Karim Sabry, match referee


Senegal and Benin face each other this Saturday, June 4, 2022 on behalf of the first day of the CAN 2023 qualifiers at 7 p.m. GMT. To lead this West African Group L derby, the Confederation of African Football has appointed a Moroccan referee quartet led by Karim Sabry.

41-year-old Karim Sabry will be at the center of the duel between Senegal, reigning African champions, and Benin. The Moroccan central judge will be assisted by his compatriots Yahya Nouali and Hamza Naciri. They are respectively first and second assistants. The fourth official of this West African derby is named Jalal Jayed.

The match between the Teranga Lions and the Squirrels is part of the first day of the CAN 2023 qualifiers in group L. The match takes place this Saturday, June 4 at 7 p.m. GMT at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium in Diamniadio.

The last time the two selections met, Senegal won 1-0 thanks to the sole achievement of Idrissa Gana Gueye. It was in the quarter-finals of CAN 2019 in Egypt with a Benin team reduced to 10 after the expulsion of central defender Olivier Verdon.
