Senators: Watson will be out for four weeks
Austin watson will be absent for a period of four weeks due to an ankle injury.
The Ottawa Senators forward was injured in the pre-season game against the Montreal Canadiens on October 7.
“He’s known in the league for his physical style of play and for his leadership, but the energy that he brings to the bench every day and the way he asks his teammates to be responsible are things you can’t see from the press gallery, coach DJ Smith told the Senators website. The respect the players have for him and the tenacity with which he plays is where he is going to be missed.
“He’s ready to do anything for the benefit of the team. «
Watson had 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 34 games with the Senators last season. He did not play after March 22 due to a hand injury.
« ‘Watty’ brings a lot more to the team than you might notice at first glance, » Senators forward said Connor brown. He plays with heart and is ready to block shots with any part of his body.
“His willingness to do whatever it takes to win is contagious so we will miss him and hope he will be back soon. «
The Senators begin their regular season against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Canadian Tire Center on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; RDS2, TSN4, TSN5).
