School clubs could be transferred to Canada

The Canadian teams of the National Hockey League (NHL) with their school club in the United States would consider temporarily moving it north of the border for the next season.

While the commissioner of the NHL, Gary Bettman, hopes to start the 2020-2021 campaign on January 1, on the side of the American League, uncertainty still hangs over.

Admittedly, the development circuit had identified the date of December 4 for the start of its regular schedule, but according to the Colorado Hockey Now site, everything will be postponed.

In Canada, the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks currently have branches playing in order in Stockton, Bakersfield and Utica.

A matter of logistics

Also, in order to avoid hassles with immigration and customs officials, they could bring their team closer to the AHL, according to hockey expert Elliotte Friedman, from the Sportsnet network.

As a result, recalled or demoted players would not have to submit to a mandatory quarantine after each border crossing.

Moreover, the same source has not commented on the possibility of the transfer of subsidiaries to the city where the main formation plays its matches.

Elsewhere in the country, the Montreal Canadiens, the Ottawa Senators, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Winnipeg Jets do not have this problem to solve, because their school club is in Canada.
