Sato confirmed at Ganassi for 2023

Two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Takuma Sato will join Chip Ganassi Racing for the IndyCar Championship oval races.

Having raced for Dale Coyne Racing last year, the Japanese driver will drive the No. 11 Dallara-Honda for oval events. Marcus Armstrong will drive the single-seater in the road races.

A longtime Honda patron and ex-F1 driver between 2002 and 2008, Sato notched six wins, 14 podiums and 10 pole positions during his 13 IndyCar seasons.

“First of all, I want to thank Chip and Mike for helping put this all together. I am extremely happy to join Chip Ganassi Racing for the 2023 season”said Taku.

“The team has been at the top of IndyCar for decades and, needless to say, extremely competitive, continues Sato. Focusing on oval racing is a new chapter for me, but I’m excited to have the opportunity to race with team members and drivers who have won multiple championships and multiple Indy 500s through the passed, which is a huge advantage. I am excited to begin. »
