After two years of absence due to the pandemic, the second edition of the festival of india « Bolly’ville » will take place on September 18.
Nothing to do with the well-known district of the indies, north of the city. Organized by the association Kamal Haasan Welfare, the objective of this festival is, for one day, to discover all the facets of Indian culture.
« I was inspired by an association that already existed in India and Kamal Haasan is an Indian actor », explains the founder and president François Gaston, originally from Pondicherry (India).
In its early days, the association carried out cleaning actions in the slums of Paris, then social actions in search of organ donors within the Indian diaspora. The president now wants to perpetuate this cultural event.
“In 2019, we had the opportunity to open a branch in Sartrouville and we thought why not a bit of culture. With a real challenge because we started from scratch with no experience in events. »
This edition of the return, the president wants it even more grand.
In the park of the Dispensary, all the themes of India will be discussed. Thanks to a stage which will be mounted, performances, dancing and singing will take place all day.
“We have about twenty groups. Like 3 years ago, Miss India France 2022 will be present and we hope to welcome this year the Indian ambassador who is supposed to return the day before, from the country. »
About twenty stands will be set up on textiles, jewelry, tattoos, children’s activities…
On the sports side, there will be events on sports that are not well known in France: cricket with the presence of the French federation, the carrom which is a board game similar to billiards, yoga.
Finally, a kind of carnival of street, typically Indian with masks and music will take place.
Sunday, September 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Parc du Dispensaire. Free admission
