San Francisco and Jacksonville advance to first round of NFL playoffs

The San Francisco 49ers, one of the best teams in the National Conference, who remained on 10 consecutive victories in the regular season, logically passed the first round of the NFL play-offs on Saturday. They won at home against the Seattle Seahawks (41-23), who had snatched their qualification last weekend.

Purdy makes a successful playoff debut

Seattle held three quarters, before collapsing and conceding two touchdowns and a field goal. Brock Purdy, the 49ers quarterback, promoted to holder since Jimmy Garoppolo’s injury in early December, delivered an excellent copy for the first playoff game of his career (332 yards and three TD assists). Runner Christian McCaffrey (119 yards) and receiver Deebo Samuel (133) also shone.

The beautiful story of the Jacksonville Jaguars – the worst team in the NFL for two years but qualified this season for the play-offs – continues. On Saturday, the Florida franchise won against the Los Angeles Chargers (31-30), thanks to a field goal scored at the last second.

A two-faced Trevor Lawrence

The Jaguars have made a superb comeback. In the first period, they were down 27-0 and Trevor Lawrence, their quarterback, was in a rout, with four interceptions conceded. But the latter then regained his football and threw four touchdown passes. Travis Etienne held his rank, running 109 yards. Jacksonville won its first playoff game since 2018.

Terrible disappointment for the Chargers, who also found the final stages, after four years of absence. Their fine attack, with quarterback Justin Herbert and runner Austin Ekeler, was expected. But, after a very good first period, she was silent, with only one field goal scored, after returning from the locker room.
