Sabers: Thompson suffers from an upper body injury

Tagus Thompson suffered an upper body injury with the Buffalo Sabres. It will be evaluated daily.

The forward, who leads the Sabers with 68 points, including 34 goals, did not practice Monday.

“Like other players, he’s dealing with minor sores that got worse in the last game (Saturday against the Minnesota Wild), coach Don Granato said. So he better take the day off. He could have skated today, but it was better for him to take the day off. »

Granato expects Thompson, who is set to play the All-Star Game for the first time in his career next weekend, to practice on Tuesday. According to him, he should be able to play Wednesday when the Sabers host the Carolina Hurricanes (7:30 p.m. ET; TNT, ESPN+, SN NOW).

» Yes [il devrait être en mesure de jouer], said the coach. I’m pretty sure Thompson will be training tomorrow. We will have a conversation afterwards. »

The defender Mattias Samuelssonwho has missed the last two games with a lower-body injury, and forward Dylan Cozensabsent in the duel against the Wild on Saturday, were both on the ice Monday.

It is not known, however, if they will be in training on Wednesday.

« I don’t have to make any decisions today, so we’ll let them practice, » Granato said.

Cozens ranks third in Sabers scoring with 43 points (17 goals, 26 assists) in 48 games. Samuelsson had one goal and four assists in 38 games.
