Roman Abramovich is no longer the owner of Chelsea

Roman Abramovich is no longer the owner of Chelsea. As announced by the Blues on Saturday, the sale process to American businessman Todd Boehly and his consortium of investors was finalized on Monday.

“The consortium led by Tedd Boehly, President and CEO of Eldridge, and Clearlake Capital Group today announced (Monday) that the transfer of ownership of Chelsea Football Club was complete”, write the Blues, bought for 5 billion euros. The consortium also includes Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss and Mark Walter, a business partner of Boehly, with whom he shares ownership of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team.

A renovation plan for Stamford Bridge

“Under the terms of the agreement, Boehly and Clearlake will have joint control and equal power within the club”, specifies the press release from Chelsea published on Monday on its website. The businessman and the investment fund indicate that they want to invest in key areas such as the development of the women’s team and the training center, but also the renovation of the stadiums of Stamford Bridge and Kingsmeadow.

“We are honored to become the new goalkeepers of Chelsea Football Club. We are fully committed, for every minute of every game. Our vision as owners is clear: we want to make fans proud.”says Boehly.
