Roger Goodell: « We plan to play international matches in 2021 » | Touchdown Actu (NFL Actu)

COVID has deprived Europe of its traditional fall NFL games. 2021 looked set to follow the same path, but the league decided to keep hope alive.

During his Super Bowl press conference, Roger Goodell assured that the NFL still hopes to send teams to London and Mexico.

« We plan to play international matches in 2021. This is the approach we are going to have, » he assured. “We’re obviously going to stay in close contact with our partners in the UK and Mexico, and make sure we’re going to do that in a safe way. If at any point we think we can’t do this safely, we’ll figure it out.

We hope to go back and plan to return, and we will make that decision when we have enough information to do so. «

In 2019, the NFL announced its London posters in January. In 2020, nothing had filtered during the first weeks of the year, before an announcement in early May to confirm that there would be no meetings in Europe.

It was the first time since the 2006 season that London did not host an NFL meeting.
