Rodrigo Blankenship loses his job

The Indianapolis Colts released kicker Rodrigo Blankenship on Tuesday.

According to the NFL Network, the club made the decision after the 25-year-old missed a 42-yard field goal attempt in overtime last Sunday against the Houston Texans.

The two teams involved in this duel ultimately drew 20-20.

Blankenship has spent the past three seasons with the Colts, after finishing his college career with the Georgia Bulldogs. In 22 career NFL games, he made 45 of 54 field goals he attempted. He also maintained a 94.5% success rate on one-point conversions.

The Indianapolis organization has also offered contracts to kickers Chase McLaughlin and Lucas Havrisik. Both men have been added to the club’s training squad.
