Robert Sarver sentenced to one year suspension and $1 million fine by NBA

Robert Sarver, owner of the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury women’s team, was suspended for a year and fined $10 million by the NBA. This sanction follows an investigation carried out by the NBA within the franchise.

According to this investigation, it appears that Sarver used the “N-word” (nigger) at least five times. Sarver was also convicted for « unfair conduct towards female employees » and sexual or inappropriate comments about the attire of some of his female employees.

The NBA had launched an investigation after information published by the ESPN channel in November 2021 detailing accusations of racism and misogyny against Sarver, owner of the franchise for 17 years.
