Region – Installation of the Occitanie regional sports conference

Thursday September 9, the regional conference of the sport of Occitanie was installed by Étienne Guyot, prefect of the Occitanie region, prefect of Haute-Garonne and territorial delegate of the National Sports Agency (ANS). This consultative body was created two years after the establishment of the ANS.

Kamel Chibli, vice-president of the Occitanie Region in charge of Education, Guidance, Youth and Sports, was elected president of the conference by the 74 members.

The purpose of this conference is to bring together the various players in sport at the territorial level so that they can get to know each other better, dialogue and consult each other.

During this first meeting, a regional diagnosis of sport was presented to the delegates representing four colleges: the State, the local authorities, the sports movement and the economic and social actors linked to sport.

It revolves around several themes, in particular sports equipment, high-level sport, professional sport, the practice of sport for all, sport with a disability, the reduction of inequalities in access to practice, prevention and the fight against discrimination and violence and, finally, the promotion of volunteering.

A structuring and collective project will be built for the next five years. A conference of funders will also be set up to help project leaders.

The participants spoke of the need to coordinate the actions of the various territorial, federal and national sports policies and to set common objectives.

All facets of sport are represented there, from amateur sport to professional sport, from leisure sport to competitive sport. Occitania is a land of athletes and supporters, each now has its own reference body ”, Étienne Guyot, Prefect of the Occitania region, Prefect of Haute-Garonne.
