Real Madrid: Vinicius Jr pushed out by Gareth Bale?

While Gareth Bale’s return to Madrid is expected in the coming days, it could have repercussions for another star in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

Back from Tottenham’s loan this summer, Gareth Bale could turn Real Madrid’s plans upside down this summer. As explained by Daily Mail, the Welshman has indeed acted as an extra-EU player since the entry into force of Brexit. Problem, Real Madrid are only allowed to register three non-European players in their squad for the coming season and the three Brazilians Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr and Eder Militao currently occupy these three places. According to the British tabloid, a return of Gareth Bale to Spain would therefore be synonymous with a departure for Vinicius Jr, the young Rodrygo being considered untouchable.

The 21-year-old Brazilian striker – who has been struck by fans’ lightning this season because of his finishing problems – was once announced from Manchester United’s side. But now that the Red Devils have enlisted Jadon Sancho for € 85million, it’s hard to believe another winger will join Old Trafford this summer.

However, as stated in the Spanish media Iusport, an agreement between the Superior Council of Sports and the Spanish league could change the situation. At the end of last year, the highest authorities of Spanish football had indeed accepted the athletes of Great Britain as still part of the European Union. An agreement in the process of being extended and which could therefore allow Real Madrid to register Gareth Bale in its workforce without having to sacrifice extra-community space. Atlético Madrid could also benefit from this agreement with their right-back, Kieran Trippier.
