Real Madrid: Eden Hazard towards a return to the Premier League?
Real Madrid star Eden Hazard is linked with a departure from the Spanish capital this winter.
The Belgian has failed to live up to his price tag of over € 100million since leaving Chelsea in 2019.
For the most part, fitness issues plagued Hazard, and those issues have continued this season.
Last season, the 30-year-old missed as many as 31 games with injuries, and he’s already missed three with setbacks this season.
Not to miss
Fitness issues have kept Hazard from gaining momentum, but Ancelotti still believes in the winger.
He recently said, when asked why Hazard hasn’t reached the superstar level at Real Madrid: « He doesn’t have that status because he’s had a lot of injuries and little by little he’s going improve, « replied the Real Madrid coach.
“I’m sure this season we’re going to see a better version and he will play more than he currently does.
« Hazard has it all, quality, motivation … he has to put up with what happens sometimes is that the coach prefers other players. »
As Ancelotti mentions, Brazilian winger Rodrygo is currently preferred over Hazard, and the competition is about to intensify.
Indeed, Gareth Bale is due to return from injury within the next fortnight, and the Welshman impressed earlier in the campaign before experiencing injury issues.
Nonetheless, a player over € 100million sitting on the bench is a problem both for the player and for Real Madrid.
And there are now rumors that the Belgian could return to the Premier League in an attempt to revive his career.
According to ESPN, Chelsea and Newcastle United were offered the chance to strike a deal this winter.
