TOP STORY: Real Madrid and Arsenal seek Swedish star Isak

Real Madrid set to face Arsenal for Swedish star signing Alexandre isak, according to AS.

The 21-year-old impressed during Euro 2020 with Sweden, sparking a lot of interest in the Real Sociedad forward.

Isak’s current deal contains a £ 59million release clause, making it a slightly more affordable option for Los Blancos compared to Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappé. There is little chance of negotiating this drop at the moment as the La Liga side have all the cards while waiting for the clause to be triggered.

Arsenal have reportedly made contact with the striker’s representatives with the aim of bringing him to the Emirates, but that could become difficult with Real’s interest among a host of other European giants.

Isak joined Sociedad from Borussia Dortmund in 2019 for a fee of around £ 13.5million. The club still have three years on his current contract, which means they can wait until his release clause is triggered or still have him as a valued member of the squad.

The player could also be influenced by a possible Real teammate in the form of Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian international and Isak’s paths crossed while they were both at Real Sociedad and they were able to relate again.

TRADE PAPER

– Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing a youngster from Chelsea and Scotland Billy Gilmour, according to Football Insider. The 20-year-old impressed at Euro 2020 for Scotland and Thomas Tuchel has reportedly given the green light to let Gilmour go on loan to continue his development. Norwich City are another team who have been linked with the midfielder in recent days but new Wolves boss Bruno Lage is looking to bring him to Molineux in a midfield reshuffle for the team.

– AC Milan are planning a triple blow from Chelsea players this summer as they look to strengthen ahead of a new campaign. Calciomercato reports that the Rossoneri are preparing a movement for Hakim Ziyech, Olivier Giroud and Tiemoué Bakayoko. The Blues are set to let the players go this summer to raise money for their own business, with Ziyech being one of the players both clubs have spoken about. The 28-year-old hasn’t started much under Tuchel and could be close to being released. Bakayoko, once on loan from Milan, is a possibility, with the London club tending to € 15million for the player. Giroud is the last of the three, who is expected to join the club on a € 4million per year contract after his current contract at Chelsea is concluded.

– Anderlecht coach and Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany is looking to sign a youngster from his former club, according to the Daily Mail. Taylor Harwood Bellis, 19, is highly rated by City and Kompany is keen to continue the player’s development with the Belgian squad. The defender flew to Belgium on Monday and underwent a medical examination on Wednesday, according to the report.

– West Ham United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Burnley and Norwich are all interested in signing Barcelona Martin braithwaite. Spanish outlet sport reports that the Premier League quartet are all eyeing the Denmark international as Barcelona look to push him forward after the signings of Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay. The 30-year-old joined the Catalan club for € 18million in an injury crisis in February 2020 and the club are hoping to recover as much as possible.

– The Daily Mail reports that Everton is looking to move from James rodriguez this summer with Atletico Madrid, Napoli and AC Milan all eyeing the 29-year-old. The Colombia international joined the Toffees under Carlo Ancelotti, but following the manager’s return to Real Madrid the player is expected to leave but not return to Los Blancos. The Goodison Park side are said to have concerns over financial fair play and Rodriguez’s move would ease the burden on his current salary.

– Arsenal received a heavy blow trying to bring back the loaned player Martin Odegaard of Real Madrid this summer. The player told TV2 in Norway that he will stay in the Spanish capital next season. The 22-year-old impressed Mikel Arteta during his brief stint at the club, loaning in January, recording 14 Premier League appearances. This means Arsenal will have to look elsewhere to beef up their attacking options, having also missed Emiliano Buendia who signed with Aston Villa.
