Real Madrid: Ancelotti will not oppose any departure

Carlo Ancelotti has made it known that if any of his Real Madrid players don’t want to be at the club, they won’t stand in their way.

Asked specifically whether he would allow a player who is not in his best form, like Eden Hazard, to leave if he asks, the Italian has been firm.

« I have never in my coaching career forced a player who wants to leave to stay, » Ancelotti said at Friday’s pre-match press conference.

« In my personal opinion, there is no question about it. If a player wants to leave, he will leave. There is not much doubt about it … »

Vinicius Junior has suffered a few rough tackles in the last few games, but Ancelotti isn’t worried about whether the Brazilian winger could accuse the blow.

« No, Vinicius is very young and recovers better than others, » he noted.

« On a physical level, the day he is not well or does not maintain his level of form, he will go to the bench. »

Ancelotti was left visibly frustrated by the referees after Real Madrid’s 0-0 draw against Osasuna in midweek, but he turned a question about them into an answer on how the teams’ playstyle has changed since the last time he coached in the Spanish capital.

« I’m not saying better or worse. Just different, » he replied. « Spanish football is now a more complete style of football compared to my first round. There is now an improvement in defense and the teams are more direct. »
