Rally Raid – December 31, 2022-January 15, 2023 45th Dakar-Saudi Arabia (1/5): 7 YXZ1000R Turbo in Light Proto and Alexandre Giroud (YFM700R) in Quad!

Camelia Liparoti and his co-pilot Xavier Blanco (Yamaha YXZ1000R Turbo-X-Raid Team) will lead the charge for Yamaha next to six other YXZ1000R crews when 45e editing prestigious Dakar 2023 which will take place from December 31 to January 15 in Saudi Arabia.

By further increasing the performance of the prototype YXZ1000R to 2023, X Raid built on the success of previous versions by adding more usable power with an engine 998cc turbocharged inline three-cylinder which offers the perfect balance between engine and chassis performance.

Seeking to defend their Women’s TrophyI’German Annett Fischer and Swedish Annie Seel (Yamaha YXZ1000RTurbo-X-Raid Team) will come together to take on the epic race once again, while the Qatari Ahmed Alkuwari Fahad will play his fourth Dakar by joining theformer Italian biker Manuel Lucchese (Yamaha YXZ1000RTurbo-X-Raid Team), for the first time. Category winner Quad to Dakar in 2014, 2018 and 2020the Chilean Ignacio Casalewill face the rally for the first time in Light prototype with his co-pilot and compatriot Alvaro Lyon (Yamaha YXZ1000RTurbo-X-Raid Team). They will be joined by theSpanish Marce Mertiwhich is associated with the Dutch rookie Lisette Bakker (Yamaha YXZ1000RTurbo-X-Raid Team).

Finally, the Portuguese Ricardo Porém will make his fourth appearance in the rally returning to the category T3 with the rookie co-pilot Argentinian Augusto Sanz (Yamaha YXZ1000RTurbo-X-Raid Team)while the Portuguese João Ferreira will debut on the Dakar alongside the experienced and compatriot co-pilot Filipe Palmeiro (Yamaha YXZ1000RTurbo-X-Raid Team).

In Quad, Alexandre Giroud (Yamaha YXZ1000R-SMX Drag’On-Yamaha Racing)winner of Dakar 2022 and World Champion 2022puts his title back into play. For this, the pilot Yamaha also imposed on Morocco Rally et al’Andalucia Rally to cover the crown of Rally-Raid World Champion despite his absence fromAbu Dhabi Desert Challenge and the effort and regularity of his rival Slovakian Juraj Varga (Yamaha YXZ1000R-Varga Motorsport Team). It is therefore inflated to the block that Giroud address this Dakar 2023 with the firm intention of becoming the second driver to win the most prestigious rally-raid two years in a row in the category. Even if he will be the prey of adversaries who are determined to deprive him of this pleasure, the French worked hard to refine his Yamaha YXZ1000R down to the smallest detail in order to be ready. All the ingredients are there to aim once again for the top step of the final podium.
