Nadal is recovering from a rib stress fracture

The day after his Indian Wells final loss to Taylor Fritz, Nadal announced that he had suffered a stress fracture to one of his ribs.

“Hi everyone, I wanted to let you know that I am back in Spain and went straight to my medical team for tests after the Indian Wells final, which I played in discomfort,” said tweeted Nadal in Spanish the day after the final.

« I have a stress fracture in one of my ribs and I will be out for 4-6 weeks. This is not good news and I did not expect it. I am devastated and sad because after such a good start to the season, I wanted to do more.

It’s a very important moment of the year for me and I had a very good feeling and good results. I’ve always had this fighting and overcoming spirit and what I’m going to do is be patient and work hard after I recover.

Again, I want to thank everyone for their support. » Nadal has so far withdrawn from the Monte Carlo Masters and the Barcelona Open. The hope remains that Nadal can start his season on clay at the Madrid Masters in early May.
