In an interview with Eleven Sports, Nuno Mendes, left side of Paris Saint-Germain, spoke about his start to the season with the capital club. If the 19-year-old Portuguese prefers to play in a 3-man defense, he believes he has adapted well to Mauricio Pochettino’s system.
Nuno Mendes is the revelation of the start of the season for Paris Saint-Germain. The left-back, who joined the capital club on a paid loan of seven million euros and an option to buy around 40 million euros, has played 23 games in all competitions for two assists.
In an interview granted to Eleven Sport, the Portuguese confided his preference to evolve to the position of left piston even if he considers to have adapted well to the defense at 4 set up by Mauricio Pochettino: “ Before coming here, I always played with 5, 3 defenders with Sporting. It had been over a year, I was used to it. We had incredible coordination. It was difficult for me to change software completely. In selection, we played 4 but it was from time to time. But, we are not always in selection. It was difficult for me to change, but I think I adapted well. Before joining the Sporting first team I was already playing 4 so I have no problem. For me, there is no difference to play 4 or 5. I have no preference. At 5 I have more freedom in front. I don’t want to say that at 4 I don’t have any but of course you need more attention. »
