Production of the Lamborghini Aventador restarted? – automotive news
The fire that has ravaged the cargo ship Felicity Ace for a week with nearly 4,000 vehicles on board, including several Lamborghini models, could force the manufacturer from Sant’Agata Bolognese to restart production of the Aventador.
The Felicity Ace, which left the port of Hamburg on February 10, and which was carrying nearly 4,000 new models badged Bentley, Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen and Lamborghini, caught fire during its crossing of the Atlantic a few hundred kilometers from the islands. of the Azores. The 22 crew members were able to be saved but the vehicles transported will probably not be.
If the majority of these vehicles can be replaced, it is different for the Aventador models that were part of the trip. Lamborghini has indeed stopped the production of its V12 model marketed since 2011, and is already preparing the arrival of its expected replacement in 2023. the fire.
In an interview with Automotive News, Automobili Lamborghini America CEO Andrea Baldi expressed his concern.
« At the moment, we don’t know, and we will have to deal with the problem that arises, » he said. “The model is sold-out, so there is always a possibility out of 563 units that a cancellation could allow a replacement of the Aventador, but I prefer to hope for the moment that the chassis present on the ship will be saved”.
According to Bloomberg, the bill for this fire would rise for the builders involved, to 350 million dollars (about 309,000,000 €).
