Premier League matchday seven postponed following death of Queen Elizabeth


Premier League fixtures scheduled for this weekend have been postponed.

Lhe Premier League, the English football championship, has decided to postpone all meetings scheduled for this weekend in order to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, who died on Thursday, the body announced on Friday.

“At a meeting this morning, Premier League clubs paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. To honor his extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a mark of respect, this weekend’s Premier League matches, including Monday night’s fixture, are postponed,” the Premier League wrote in a statement.

We and our clubs wish to pay tribute to Her Majesty’s long and unwavering service to our country. As the longest-serving monarch in our country, she was an inspiration and leaves behind an incredible legacy after a lifetime of dedication. This is an extremely sad time not only for the nation, but also for the millions of people who looked up to him around the world, and we join all those who mourn his passing,” added Richard Masters, President of the Premier League.



The Premier League has also said that it will soon give more information regarding the matches scheduled during the period of mourning.
