Premier League – Emerson Palmieri leaves Chelsea and joins West Ham

(Belga) Italian international Emerson Palmieri is leaving Chelsea to join West Ham United, where he has signed a four-year contract. The left-back, blocked at Chelsea by Ben Chilwell and newcomer Marc Cucurella, arrives at the Hammers to find playing time.

The Blues had offered the services of Emerson in 2018, against compensation of 30 million euros for AS Roma. The 28-year-old defender won the Europa League with Chelsea in 2019 and the Champions League two years later. He was then loaned to Olympique Lyonnais last season. He is the seventh summer signing for West Ham, who finished seventh in the Premier League last season. Italian international of Brazilian origin, Emerson notably started in the Euro 2020 final won against England. (Belga)
