Premier League big killer Leandro Trossard: ‘Keep my form in Qatar’

Three at Liverpool, one at Manchester City and another against Chelsea this season alone. Leandro Trossard loves big events. Faced with his former coach Graham Potter, he confirmed this trend started since his arrival in the Premier League in 2019.

Out of a total of 25 goals scored with Brighton, Trossard scored no less than 13 against the leaders: Liverpool (5), Chelsea (2), Manchester City (2), Tottenham (2), Manchester United (1) and Arsenal (1). « I don’t pay too much attention to who I score, I’m just happy to score for the team and it gives me a lot of confidence »reacted the Red Devil after the important success of this Saturday against the Blues (4-1).

The winger still took the opportunity to make Premier League history, thanks to his effort – aided by former Unionist Mitoma – to open the scoring in the fifth minute. He became the first player to score the first five goals after the arrival of a new manager, as none of his other partners had scored in Roberto De Zerbi’s first five meetings in charge of the Seagulls. « Trossard was fantastic »enthused the Italian. « This 4-1 score against Chelsea is an incredible result and I hope everyone enjoys it. »

Beyond this personal satisfaction, Leandro Trossard can be delighted to have brought the first victory to his team since the departure of Graham Potter – whom he found as an opponent – and the arrival of De Zerbi. « We had a really good performance under the new manager, and all that was missing was the win. We got it in a brilliant way this time. »

With seven goals already to his credit this season, the Brighton striker can claim to be Belgium’s top scorer abroad, in all leagues. Only Lois Openda (7) does as well. A very good omen for the World Cup where Trossard will fight for a starting place with Eden Hazard. « I hope I can keep my form much longer and until the World Cup in Qatar. It’s my first, I want to take advantage of it. »
