Portugal: Pablo Sarabia offers the League Cup to Sporting Portugal
Sporting Portugal won the League Cup for the second year in a row, the third in its history, by beating Benfica Lisbon in the final thanks to the decisive goal of the Spaniard Pablo Sarabia (2-1, 78th).
Benfica opened the scoring through Everton (1-0, 23rd) but Sporting equalized thanks to Gonçalo Inacio (1-1, 49th), served by Sarabia, elected man of the match. The ex-PSG player has had a good season so far with the Portuguese Champion, scoring 4 goals and 4 assists in 15 Liga Portugal Bwin matches.
The two Lisbon teams are still engaged in the Champions League but are slightly behind in the Championship, Sporting being second six points behind Porto while their capital rivals are third, nine points.
