Porsche Taycan Turbo S breaks Tesla’s Nürburgring record
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S (re)officially becomes the fastest electric car on the Nürburgring, breaking the previous record of the Tesla Model S Plaid.
A few months ago, Tesla was heading to the Nürburgring North Loop with an idea in mind. Prove to the whole world that its Model S Poster is the most efficient electric car in the world. A great ambition for the American brand, which had not failed to make people talk about it.
And for good reason, Elon Musk’s trendy sedan had indeed achieved his goal by completing a lap in just 7 minutes, 35 seconds and 579 thousandths. A record which had then made the headlines in the specialized press and which the brand had obviously not failed to boast.
But now the American sedan now has a major rival. And this is none other than the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, which is not here to string pearls.

A new record
A few days ago, the German sedan took to the road in the direction of the Nordschleife with one objective: to beat its competitor and take the world record at the same time. It was therefore done, since the Porsche Taycan Turbo S managed to complete the lap of the 20.832 km circuit in just 7 minutes, 33 seconds and 3 tenths. Or 2 seconds better than the American.
To (re)live the on-board lap record, take a look at the video below:
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S thus becomes the fastest production electric car at the Nürburgringbeating at the same time its previous record about ten seconds. A few years ago, she had indeed completed a tour in 7 minutes and 42 seconds, on a shorter version of the track. Driven by brand development pilot Lars Kernthe sports car was almost entirely standard, apart from the essential roll bars.
