Philadelphia Flyers trade Claude Giroux to Florida Panthers
The Philadelphia Flyers have reached an agreement to send longtime captain Claude Giroux to the Florida Panthers. By Daily face-to-face Frank Seravalli, Giroux, a 2024 fifth-round pick, Connor Bunnaman and German Rubtsov travel to Florida as part of the deal. The Flyers receive right-winger Owen Tippett, a 2024 first-round pick and a 2023 third-round pick. The Flyers also keep 50% of Giroux’s salary.

The Flyers captain is in the final season of his eight-year contract with a cap of $8.275 million, and with the Flyers out of the playoff draw he has decided to move on in a bid to win the Cup. Stanley. He ranked No.1 on Seravalli’s list of trade targets as the striker’s pedigree is in high demand.
Giroux has 18 goals and 42 points in 57 games this season with the Flyers. He recently played his 1,000th game with the team, becoming the second Flyer to do it all with the team.
Tippett is a 23-year-old winger who was drafted in the first round in 2017 by the Panthers. He’s had a more consistent time in the NHL the past two seasons, as he played 87 games between the two seasons, scoring 13 goals and 32 points over that span. He had recently fallen victim to Florida’s incredible offensive depth, but was demoted to the AHL.
Giroux will join a Panthers team that has won seven of its last nine games and currently sits first in the Atlantic Division with a 42-14-6 record. The Panthers will be looking to end an NHL playoff winning drought that dates back to 1995-96 when they reached the Stanley Cup Finals in their third NHL season as a franchise.
