Philadelphia beat Houston in Game 1 of the World Series

The Philadelphia Phillies took the lead in the 2022 World Series on Friday. They indeed won Game 1 (6-5) at the Houston Astros. After only three innings (out of nine to play), the Texans were still leading 5-0, thanks in particular to a home run from Kyle Tucker, which also allowed Jeremy Pena and Alex Bregman to score.

Not enough to discourage the visitors, who, two sets later, managed to equalize. Strikes from Alec Bohm and JT Realmuto allowed several Philadelphia players to score points. And, after nine innings, the two teams were still tied. But the decision was then quick since, at the start of the 10th, Realmuto managed a home run which gave victory to the Phillies.

A first since 2002

Philadelphia became the first team to recover from a five-point deficit in the Finals since 2002. And Houston suffered its first playoff loss this season. Pitcher Seranthony Dominguez was credited with the win for the Phillies, and Luis Garcia of the Houston Astros was credited with the loss.

The two teams will face each other again on Saturday (at 2:00 a.m., on the night of Saturday to Sunday, French time), still in Houston.
