Peugeot 9X8: silence, we turn…
Peugeot Sport’s endurance program is taking shape: the spectacular 9X8 without rear wing was on the track this week.
It was on the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet that testing took place after a first series of tests last month at Motorland Aragon.
Even if these working sessions take place in the greatest secrecy, our colleagues from turbo were able to attend exclusively, without revealing anything.
However, we learn that it is in its original version without the slightest rear spoiler that the Peugeot Hypercar prototype is developed.
Five drivers were at the wheel this week: the Frenchman Loïc Duval (photo above), the British Paul di Resta and James Rossiter as well as the Danes Kevin Magnussen and Mikkel Jensen, Jean-Eric Vergne having been retained by the E-Prix from Mexico City with DS Techeetah.
The 2.6-litre hybrid biturbo V6 engine developing 680 hp (for a total weight of 1030 kg) promises to sing loud and clear if we believe the witnesses of these tests which will continue in the coming weeks.
It is during the month of March that PSA Motorsport will specify the rest of the program, with the prospect of seeing the 9X8 in the race from the 6 Hours of Spa in May and the 24 Hours of Le Mans next June. We cross fingers !
